Authorship and Contributorship
JATI UNIK (Jurnal Ilmiah Teknik dan Manajemen Industri) applies authorship principles consistent with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship is limited to individuals whose intellectual contribution to the work is substantial. Administrative support, routine data collection, funding acquisition, or providing access to facilities alone does not qualify a person as an author.
Authorship Criteria
A person may be listed as an author only if they meet all four of the following criteria:
-
Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data (e.g. manufacturing process analysis, ergonomic assessment, supply chain modelling, quality improvement, operations research, or industrial management analysis);
-
Drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content;
-
Approved the final version of the manuscript to be submitted and published;
-
Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including ensuring that questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Individuals who meet the first criterion should have the opportunity to participate in manuscript revision and final approval. Gift, guest, honorary, and ghost authorship are unacceptable.
Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author
The corresponding author acts on behalf of all authors during submission, review, and publication. They must ensure that:
-
every listed author meets the authorship criteria, and no eligible author is omitted;
-
all co-authors have read and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission to JATI UNIK;
-
the author names, affiliations, order of authorship, and contribution statements are accurate and agreed upon by all authors;
-
the Authorship Agreement or Publication Right Form is completed with the agreement of all authors and uploaded as a supplementary file;
-
editorial communications, revision requests, and publication decisions are communicated to all co-authors;
-
requests concerning supporting data, corrections, or research integrity are addressed promptly.
Changes in Authorship
The author list and author order should be finalized before submission. Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors must be submitted by the corresponding author to the editorial office through the journal’s OJS submission system or the channels listed on the official Contact page.
The request must include a clear explanation and written agreement from all authors, including any person being added or removed. Editorial processing may be suspended until the request is resolved.
Requests made after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and require approval from the Editor-in-Chief. Changes after publication must be documented through a formal correction notice, in accordance with the journal’s Publication Ethics policy.
If an authorship dispute cannot be resolved by the authors, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution. Editors do not determine authorship entitlement on behalf of research institutions.
Contribution Statement (CRediT)
To make each author’s role transparent, JATI UNIK encourages authors to include an Author Contributions statement before the References section, using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy).
Available roles include: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data curation, Writing – original draft, Writing – review & editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project administration, and Funding acquisition.
Example:
Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – original draft. Author B: Investigation, Data curation, Formal analysis, Visualization. Author C: Supervision, Validation, Writing – review & editing.
An author may hold multiple roles, and a role may be shared by several authors. CRediT statements describe contributions and do not replace the authorship criteria.
At least one author should be identified as the guarantor, taking responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole. This role does not remove the responsibilities of the other authors.
Acknowledgement of Non-Author Contributors
Contributors who do not meet all four authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgement section. Examples include laboratory technicians, production personnel, survey assistants, companies or agencies providing operational data, language editors, and individuals providing general administrative or supervisory support.
Authors should describe the contribution and, where appropriate, provide the contributor’s name and affiliation. Permission must be obtained before naming an individual because acknowledgement may imply endorsement of the work.
Financial and institutional support should also be disclosed. Funding or a supervisory position alone does not establish eligibility for authorship.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
AI tools, including large language models, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot approve the final manuscript, accept accountability, or take responsibility for the integrity of the work.
Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in preparing the manuscript, including language editing, drafting, code generation, image generation, or data analysis. The disclosure should identify the tool, its version where available, and the purpose and extent of its use.
AI use affecting research methods, data processing, analysis, or results must be described in the Methods section with sufficient detail to support evaluation and reproducibility. Assistance with manuscript preparation should be disclosed in the Acknowledgement section or a separate AI Use Declaration.
Authors must verify all AI-assisted content, including factual statements, references, calculations, code, and images. AI tools must not be used to fabricate or falsify research data, results, or references. Confidential, personal, or proprietary information must not be uploaded without appropriate authorization.
The authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the entire manuscript.
