Post-Publication Discussion

1. How to Submit a Comment

Readers may send comments on a published article by email to jati.ie@unik-kediri.ac.id with the subject line “Post-Publication Comment: [article title]”. The comment should include:

  • the article title, authors, volume, issue, and DOI;
  • the commenter’s full name, affiliation, and email address (anonymous comments are not considered);
  • a clear, specific, and respectful discussion of the scientific content, supported by data, calculations, or references where possible.

2. Types of Post-Publication Contributions

  • Comment or question: a short note asking for clarification or pointing out a possible issue in the method, data, model, analysis, or interpretation (e.g. sampling, measurement, statistical testing, simulation, or optimization results).
  • Letter to the Editor (Discussion): a more substantial response of up to 1,500 words and 10 references. It may challenge, support, or extend the findings of an article published in JATI UNIK within the previous 12 months.
  • Report of error or misconduct: concerns about serious errors, plagiarism, data manipulation, unauthorized use of company data, or other ethical issues are handled under the journal’s Correction and Retraction Policy and Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

3. Review Process

  1. The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Section Editor screens the comment for relevance, scientific basis, and professional tone.
  2. Comments that are relevant and well-founded are forwarded to the corresponding author of the original article, who is invited to respond, normally within 30 days.
  3. Letters to the Editor are peer-reviewed in the same way as other manuscripts.
  4. The editor decides on the outcome:
    • publishing the Letter to the Editor together with the authors’ reply (Author’s Response) in the next available issue (April or October), linked to the original article;
    • forwarding the comment and the authors’ reply privately to the commenter;
    • issuing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction if the comment shows a significant error or ethical problem;
    • taking no further action if the comment is unfounded, with an explanation to the commenter.

4. Standards of Discussion

All post-publication discussion must focus on the scientific content of the article, not on the authors personally. Comments that are defamatory, offensive, discriminatory, irrelevant, or commercially motivated will not be considered. Commenters must disclose any conflict of interest, such as competing research, a relationship with the company or organization studied, or commercial interests in the products, tools, or software discussed, in line with the journal’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

5. Transparency

Published Letters to the Editor, Author’s Responses, and any resulting corrections or retractions are openly accessible and linked to the original article, so that readers can follow the full discussion.
