authorship-contributorship
JURMATEKS (Jurnal Manajemen Teknologi dan Teknik Sipil) follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship is limited to individuals whose intellectual contribution to the work is substantial. Administrative tasks, routine data collection, or providing access to facilities alone do not qualify a person as an author.
Authorship Criteria
A person may be listed as an author only if they meet all four of the following criteria:
- Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data (e.g. field surveys, laboratory testing, structural or hydrological modelling, project data analysis);
- Drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content;
- Approved the final version of the manuscript to be submitted and published;
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including investigating and resolving any questions about its accuracy or integrity.
Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author
The corresponding author acts on behalf of all authors during submission, review, and publication. They must ensure that:
- every listed author meets the criteria above, and no one who meets them is left out;
- all co-authors have read and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission to JURMATEKS;
- the Publication Right Form is signed on behalf of all authors and uploaded as a supplementary file.
Changes in Authorship
The author list should be final at the time of submission. Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors must be sent by the corresponding author to the editor (jurmateks@unik-kediri.ac.id) with a clear reason and written consent from all authors, including the author being added or removed. Requests made after acceptance will only be considered in exceptional cases and require approval from the Editor-in-Chief. Changes after publication will be made only through a formal correction notice, in line with the journal’s Publication Ethics policy.
Contribution Statement (CRediT)
To make each author’s role transparent, JURMATEKS encourages authors to include a contribution statement before the References section, using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). Available roles include: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data curation, Writing – original draft, Writing – review & editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project administration, and Funding acquisition.
Example:
Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – original draft. Author B: Investigation, Data curation, Formal analysis. Author C: Supervision, Writing – review & editing.
At least one author should act as guarantor, taking responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole.
Acknowledgement of Non-Author Contributors
Contributors who do not meet all authorship criteria should be named in the Acknowledgement section. Examples are laboratory technicians, field survey assistants, contractors or agencies that provided project data, language editors, funders, and general supervisors. Authors should give the person’s or institution’s name and affiliation, and must obtain their permission before naming them.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
AI tools, including large language models, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work. Any use of AI tools in preparing the manuscript (e.g. language editing, drafting, code generation, or data analysis) must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgement section, naming the tool and how it was used. The authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the entire content.
