Teknologi Budidaya Tanaman Jagung Putih Ungu secara Organik Menggunakan Pupuk Organik dari Limbah Pisang di Desa Banjarsari

Banjarsari Village in Sukaresik Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java Province, is an agrarian area where most residents work as farmers. One of the cultivated commodities is purple-white corn, which has a high anthocyanin content and functions as an antioxidant. Farming practices in this village still rely on inorganic fertilizers, which may reduce soil quality in the long term. Therefore, an environmentally friendly fertilization alternative is needed by utilizing local organic waste. Slow-release organic fertilizer made from banana waste has been developed in Tasikmalaya, but its use among farmers in Banjarsari Village remains low. This community service activity was carried out through socialization and demonstrations of banana-waste organic fertilizer to improve farmers’ knowledge and confidence in the technology. The results showed high participant enthusiasm and a good understanding of the potential of organic fertilizers as substitutes for inorganic fertilizers. Field demonstrations also indicated that banana-waste organic fertilizer has the potential to effectively support the growth of purple-white corn. Thus, the utilization of banana waste has the potential to promote more sustainable agriculture and enhance farmers’ self-reliance in Banjarsari Village.
Desa Banjarsari, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, memiliki potensi komoditas jagung putih ungu yang kaya antosianin, namun produktivitasnya terancam oleh tingginya ketergantungan petani pada pupuk anorganik yang berisiko menurunkan kualitas tanah. Fakta di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun inovasi pupuk organik slow release berbahan limbah pisang telah tersedia di Tasikmalaya, tingkat adopsi dan pemanfaatannya oleh petani lokal masih sangat rendah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan adopsi teknologi ramah lingkungan melalui sosialisasi pemanfaatan pupuk organik dari limbah pisang dalam kegiatan budidaya pertanian. Selanjutnya, dilakukan demonstrasi aplikasi lapangan pada tanaman jagung putih ungu untuk memberikan bukti efektivitas pupuk agar meningkatkan kepercayaan dan pengetahuan petani. Hasil survei kegiatan yang dilakukan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta yang tinggi serta pemahaman yang baik mengenai potensi pupuk organik sebagai pengganti pupuk anorganik serta meningkatkan minat untuk budidaya jagung putih ungu. Demonstrasi lapangan juga memperlihatkan bahwa pupuk organik limbah pisang memiliki peluang untuk mendukung pertumbuhan jagung putih ungu secara efektif. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan pupuk organik pada konsentrasi 90 gr dengan menunjukkan hasil yang tidak jauh berbeda dengan perlakuan NPK. Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan limbah pisang berpotensi mendorong pertanian yang lebih berkelanjutan dan meningkatkan kemandirian petani di Desa Banjarsari.
