Pemberdayaan PKK Desa Mukuh Melalui Pembuatan Pupuk Booster Terasi di Kayen Kidul, Kabupaten Kediri

Most family welfare program members in Mukuh Village are homemakers interested in using their yards independently. They have cultivated medicinal plants and horticulture. They acted as small-scale agricultural actors facing obstacles in the form of difficulty initiating flowering and producing fruit. Fertilizer is the most appropriate option to overcome this acquaintance. Using fertilizers still focuses on chemical products, causing damage to the soil environment and decreasing productivity. This condition gave rise to the idea of reusing organic matter as fertilizer. Faculty of Agriculture, Kadiri University, united in the Community Service Team through KUKERTA 2022, facilitated the empowerment of Mukuh Village’s family welfare program members manufacturing organic booster fertilizer made of shrimp paste to overcome agricultural problems in this region through community sharing. Shrimp paste booster application is made by spraying the booster liquid on prospective flowers or fruit of cultivated plants using a handle sprayer. This activity has increased the resident’s knowledge and skills in managing small-scale agriculture to meet family needs with natural agricultural inputs through organic booster fertilizers. A shrimp paste booster fertilizer can easily stimulate flowers and fruit from the cultivated garden and repel fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.)

Anggota PKK Desa Mukuh sebagian besar merupakan ibu rumah tangga yang memiliki minat dalam pemanfaatan pekarangan secara mandiri. Tanaman yang telah diusahakan di pekarangan anggota PKK Desa Mukuh adalah tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) dan hortikultura. Anggota PKK Desa Mukuh sebagai pelaku pertanian skala kecil mengalami kendala berupa sulitnya tanaman berbunga dan menghasilkan buah. Pupuk menjadi opsi paling tepat untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut. Penggunaan pupuk masih berfokus pada pupuk kimia atau anorganik yang menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan tanah hingga penurunan produktivitas. Kondisi tersebut menimbulkan pemikiran untuk kembali menggunakan bahan organik sebagai sumber pupuk. Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Kadiri melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata 2022 (KUKERTA 2022) bertujuan memberdayakan anggota PKK Desa Mukuh, Kecamatan Kayen Kidul, Kabupaten Kediri dalam pembuatan pupuk organik booster berbahan baku terasi melalui sosialisasi dan community sharing untuk mengatasi masalah pertanian di wilayah tersebut. Aplikasi pupuk booster terasi dilakukan dengan menyemprotkan cairan pupuk booster ke calon bunga atau calon buah tanaman budidaya menggunakan handle sprayer. Kegiatan ini telah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga akan pentingnya mengelola pertanian skala kecil dengan tujuan pemenuhan kebutuhan lingkup keluarga dengan input pertanian alami melalui penggunaan pupuk organik booster. Pupuk booster berbahan dasar terasi dapat dengan mudah dibuat untuk merangsang bunga dan buah dari tanaman pekarangan yang dibudidayakan sekaligus sebagai penghalau lalat buah.
