Optimalisasi Lahan Perkarangan Melalui Budidaya Sayuran Dengan Metode Vertikultur Di Perumahan Sidokare Indah Sidoarjo

Verticulture is a planting technology by placing plants vertically on a narrow land. This community service aimed to build velticulture technology as an alternative to realizing food security in urban environments, especially in Pondok Sidokare Indah Housing Complex with minimal/limited yard land for vegetable cultivation. The community service activity was conducted in the yard of the house of one of the members of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Group (PKK) Pondok Sidokare Indah Housing Complex, Sidokare Village RT.31/RW.09, Sidoarjo District, Sidoarjo Regency. This activity was conducted in November 2022. Socialization and instruction in vegetable production utilizing verticulture technology were the methods employed in this community service by a team of lecturers which consisted of several activities, including outreach to housewives in the PKK Housing group Pondok Sidokare Indah, then followed by demonstration activities for planting vegetable seeds. Based on the outcomes of community service activities at Pondok Sidokare Indah Housing, it is intended that it will increase the skill and knowledge of PKK members at Pondok Sidokare Indah Housing in cultivating vegetables with verticulture techniques so that they can utilize their respective yards to be more productive.
Vertikultur merupakan teknologi menanam dengan meletakan tanaman secara vertikal pada lahan yang sempit. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menjadikan teknologi veltikultur menjadi alternatif dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan di lingkungan perkotaan terutama di Perumahan Pondok Sidokare Indah dengan lahan pekaranan yang minim/terbatasan dalam budidaya tanaman hortikultura. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di halaman atau pekarangan rumah salah satu anggota Ibu-Ibu kelompok Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) Perumahan Pondok Sidokare Indah, Desa Sidokare RT.31/RW.09, Kecamatan Sidoarjo, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2022. Kegiatan pengabdian ini mengunakan metode dalam bentuk demonstrasi pelatihan budidaya sayuran dengan menggunakan teknologi vertikultur dan sosialisasi oleh tim dosen pengabdian dimana rangkaian kegiatan terdiri dari: 1) kegiatan sosialisasi kepada Ibu-Ibu kelompok PKK Perumahan Pondok Sidokare Indah, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan 2) kegiatan demonstrasi penanaman bibit tanaman sayuran. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan pengabdian di Perumahan Pondok Sidokare Indah diharapkan dapat meningkatkan skill dan pengetahuan warga khususnya Ibu-Ibu PKK Perumahan Pondok Sidokare Indah dalam budidaya sayuran dengan teknik vertikultur agar dapat memanfaatkan lahan pekarangan masing-masing sehingga menjadi lebih produktif.
